When you look at Venice from one of the many suspension bridges it is difficult not to grasp the intensity of this city. A city that challenges water and at the same time challenged by this element, a microcosm where time flows at a different speed than the rest of the world. In this painting the artist captures the architecture, the bright colours and reflections of a Venetian scenery, indistinct shapes that ripple in the water of the canal. What appears hyper-realistic to a distant glance becomes surreal as we approach, observing the sampled colours of the artwork. Marco's technique makes what seemed familiar alienating and surreal. But after all, isn't it the same magic that Venice can do?
